Youtube embraces Norwegian technology

WeVideo debuts on youtube.com today
Today came the news that the Norwegian company “WeVideo” has secured space on the online video editing tools for the website YouTube.
Behind WeVideo is the Norwegian company Inspera, which for a long time has developed the editing software Creaza, aimed at schools and educational institutions. WeVideo is created as a separate company and is currently headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. WeVideo was launched in September 2011 and is currently in Beta.
The fact that a Norwegian company is taking the plunge into the world of this kind of technology, and has also pulled off an agreement with such a prestigious website, is quite rare.
YouTube is the web’s largest video site and has several existing tools to process videos, but none of them are so powerful and full as WeVideos, says Eric Ræstad, Managing Director of WeVideo in Europe.
“We will not take over YouTube’s editor, but is a parallel alternative to youtube.com/create. Among the other tools you see here, WeVideo is the only full-scale editor and YouTube’s own editor is to be regarded as a simplified editing, or a so-called mash-up tool,” says Ræstad.
