Workshop on trends in translational cancer research in Bergen
The European Commission is organising a workshop on trends in translational cancer research on 28 and 29 September in Bergen, Norway.
With an estimated 2.9 million new cases and 1.7 million deaths each year, cancer remains an important public health problem in Europe. In addition, the ageing of the European population may mean new challenges, even if age-specific rates remain constant.
Currently, approximately one hundred EU-funded translational cancer research projects are ongoing under the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes.
This event is designed to gather scientists, policy makers and industrial representatives to discuss various aspects of translational cancer research, including early detection and diagnosis, treatment and care of patients and survivors, tumour host interactions and treatment outcome, and haematological cancers. The number of participants is limited to approximately 200.
