The report from Douglas Westwood Ltd (DWL) indicates that capital costs for offshore wind power for greater energy yield as a result of stronger and more stable winds.

However, cost two to three times higher for offshore ocean wind compared to onshore wind, writes Tech Magazine .

Offshore wind power would also remain expensive, even if the technology operating and maintenance costs for wind power in the future can be reduced a great deal.

Energi21 and the Research Council has launched two reports on wind power both on land and at sea. The two reports have a number of converging conclusions.

Both reports point out that Norway has clear advantages as a supplier to domestic and international wind power industry. The challenge in Norway is a small domestic market.
