Dear readers and friends,
We’ve just come out of the Fourth of July weekend, a festive celebration of the core values upon which our country was founded.
Today, the triad of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness means more than ever in a time of turmoil, as we acknowledge the importance of guaranteeing everyone in our society their fundamental human rights.
Recently, some questions have come up around the policies governing our Opinion section. An opinion article is exactly what the word “opinion” indicates: the pieces we publish are, by definition, subjective viewpoints. You will find several types of content in the spirit of presenting a range of viewpoints to encourage thoughtful debate:
• Our op-eds are written by interested members of our community. It is important to note that they do not represent the opinions of our newspaper.
• Our Letters to the Editor section is a forum of democracy, where community voices can be heard. Our publication of them is not an endorsement of their content.
• We do not publish submissions with obscene or offensive language that might incite violence.
Your opinions matter to us, and we love to hear how you are doing. Let’s keep a lively dialogue going!
There are so many ways that you can contribute to The Norwegian American. Your subscription is essential to supporting our operations, and we are very grateful for the generous donations we receive from you.
But your contributions don’t stop there. Get the word out about your community activities with our Events calendar, online during COVID-19. We also offer an array of effective and affordable advertising options.
Remember that we celebrate your birthdays with our free listings. And we also publish your event photos on our Bulletin Board page for free.
