Warning: Norway.com Email Phishing Scam!
A Norway.com email address that is allegedly from Visa and MasterCard is encouraging recipients to register a new password to use while shopping on the Internet.
This fraudulent phishing email scam is not from an authorized Norway.com email user.
At first glance, the email can look credible, but Trond C. Brekke, press coordinator for Visa Europe in Norway, stresses that Visa does not send emails directly to cardholders.
“If you ever receive an email from Visa, you can assume that it is fraud. A cardholder will be contacted directly through their bank, and never Visa Europe,” said Brekke.
Messages about the fraudulent emails have been sent to Økokrim in the past day. Anne Dybo, an advisor at Økokrim, encourages people to not respond to emails that ask for credit card numbers, account numbers, or other confidential personal information.
