U.S. Embassy in Oslo offers journalists grants for reporting tours to the United States

The Office of Press, Education and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Oslo is offering one or more grants in the size of 5000 – 30000 NOK (depending on the proposals) to completely or partially fund reporting trips for journalists to the Unites States.

Preferred projects will be those which cover subject matter that is not widely reported in Norwegian media. These may include Norwegians studying in the U.S., religious and/or cultural diversity, science and research, or new energy and green technology. Any genre is accepted and the U.S. Embassy will not exercise any editorial control of  the finished project. The successful proposal(s) will be determined by a jury consisting of U.S. Embassy staff and Norwegian media professionals. A final product project must be published/aired by the end of June 2010.

Proposals should include (in English)

  • Short project description
  • Destination(s) and length of time required in the U.S.
  • How grant money would be spent (rough budget), what portion of project will be covered by grant
  • Where and when it will be published, including reference at the organization.
  • CV of applicant(s)
