Unbeaten Rosenborg Secure Norwegian League Title

The Norwegian giants have secured the league title…

Norwegian powerhouse Rosenborg BK have secured the domestic league title for the 21st time in their history. They beat rivals Molde 2-0 on Sunday and now have a seventeen point lead with four more matches to go.

Rosenborg failed to impress in the last two seasons and had to leave the league title to SK Brann Bergen and Stabaek IF. However, they started this term as sky-high favorite’s after signing players such as Rade Prica and Trond Olsen.

They lived up to the expectations by recording nineteen victories and seven draws in the 26 games played so far.

Rosenborg took 13 league titles in a row between 1992 and 2004, and former coach Nils Arne Eggen says the current side has the ability to repeat that feat.

“The team went through a phase of rebuilding but now they are back to their best,” he said to uefa.com.

The Norwegians were beaten 1-0 on aggregate by Azerbaijani side FK Karabagh for the Europa League earlier this season and are not active in Europe at the moment.
