Marie Haagenrud and Alex Batllori in Through a Glass, Darkly | Jesper W. Nielsen, 2008

Two juries gave top prizes to Through a Glass, Darkly (I et speil i en gåte), from Jostein Gaarder’s novel, at Schlingel, the international children and youth film festival in Chemnitz, Germany, which closed on October 10.

The professional jury named Jesper W Nielsen’s ”poetic and sensitive film that emboldens” winner of the Junior Film Competition, while the children and youth jury gave it the ç ”because it is based on a real problem, and furthermore is a pretty emotional and instructive movie.”

Through a Glass, Darkly was produced by Turid Øversveen for Spillefilmkompaniet 4½.

For its 14th edition Schlingel had selected 118 films from 39 countries, reaching almost 10,000 admissions.
