Train traffic stood still for three hours
After three hours of stopped train traffic throughout Norway, the trains finally began to roll again Monday night.
The error in the communication system is now corrected, and the trains can therefore roll again, according to the National Rail communications director Thor Erik Skarpen, to Aftenposten.no at 21:30.
All trains throughout Norway stood still for three hours, from around 18:30.
Train traffic in the entire country was paralyzed as a result of a failure in the telephone system, GSM-R. It is this network that provides communication between train conductor and locomotive drivers.
The communication system was down, due to a short circuit in Trondheim. Here it would normally have been a backup solution, but it did not work, “says Skarpen.
