One person died when a train collided with a truck south of Dombås in Lillehammer.
A train has collided with a truck on a level crossing at Hjelle, says operations manager Arvid Røste of Gudbrandsdal police to VG Nett.
There are signs that the person in the truck was working on site. Probably he held on to move the truck when the gate went down. It seems like they tried to salvage the gate and the truck, but it is too early to say anything firm, “said Røste.
Nobody on the train was injured
The deceased was probably inside the truck when the train came. No passengers on the train were injured.
The police can not say anything about high speed train.
One of the passengers on the train says the following to VG Nett about the incident:
“I heard a bang. Then there was sudden stop” said the passenger.
Passengers will be transported by bus.
Closed indefinitely
According to National Rail, the railway line is closed indefinitely. NSB is working to find alternative transport for passengers in both directions.
“There is damage to the engine, and it is uncertain whether it can continue on your own or will have to be pulled away” said Tor Erik Skarpen of Jernbaneverket.
Operations manager Røste says that cleanup work on the railway line will start Wednesday night.
The police was notified about the accident 12.15.
