Berger wins Biathlon World Cup
Tora Berger won the ladies’ 7.5-kilometre sprint in a biathlon World Cup event in Italy on Thursday January 23, crossing the line in 21 minutes 25.5 seconds.
The Norwegian made a slow start, but shot consistently to stay in contention and then produced a strong finish. Berger’s win leaves her sixth in the World Cup standings ahead of the pursuit on Saturday, reports the Canadian Press.
Tora has been a member of the Norwegian national biathlon women’s team since 1999. This is her third World Cup victory. At the 2008 World Championship, she retrieved three 4th places, before earning the silver medal in the mass start.
Tora Berger grew up in the mountainous municipality of Lesja, in Oppland county, and lives in Meråker, Nord-Trøndelag. Her sports club is Dombås Idrettslag of Dombås, Oppland.
