Crown Prince Haakon, heir to the Norwegian throne, has added a pet to the royal household, local media reported Friday. Milly Kakao, a four-month old Labradoodle (mix of Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle), has settled in well with the royal family, news agency NTB reported.
The Norwegian poodle club appeared dissatisfied with the choice, expressing concern the royal mutt could create a surge in demand for the mixed breed, NTB said.
Labradoodles are popular amongst celebrities all over the world, reports Aftenposten. The singer/composer Neil Young, golf pro Tiger Woods, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, top model Christie Brinkley and Perez Hilton, are owners of the popular breed. Jennifer Aniston also received a labradoodle puppy from her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
King Harald V has owned several English Setters and there is a statue of his father, the late King Olav, accompanied by his poodle, Troll.
