The fighting lasted six hours – eight Norwegian soldiers injured
The Norwegian soldier who was badly hurt in Afghanistan, will be operated in the morning hours Monday. In all, eight Norwegians injured in yesterday’s gunfight.
“The last message we received from Afghanistan is that he operated by the German military hospital in Camp Marmal in Mazar-e Sharif now. I will be careful not to say anything about his condition before the operation was completed, but we hope of course he is going well, says Lt. Col. John E. Lien told Aftenposten.no at 09 o’clock Monday morning.
The other soldier was seriously injured, was operated on over the night. His condition is stable.
According to Lien’s colleague, Lt. Col. Vegard M. Finberg, it is too early to say when soldiers will be home to Norway.
“It all depends on injuries. At the German hospital is the matter in very good hands,” he said.
A total of eight Norwegian soldiers wounded in shootout in Ghowrmach area of Afghanistan on Sunday evening. In previous messages, the number six, but Lien said that two soldiers have been treated for slight injuries.
Two of the wounded were evacuated to the military hospital in Meymaneh, while the rest were treated on site.
