The 2011 Nordic World Ski Championships will take place in Norway and Oslo 2011 has now opened up for volunteer applications.

The 2010 World Cup competition will be the first major event after the rebuilding of the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and ski arena, and is considered “test championships” before the Nordic World Ski Championships in Holmenkollen in 2011.

The championships in 2011 will be the biggest sporting event in Norway for many years. The organizers expect almost 650 participants from over 60 nations, as well as 1800 media representatives.

The event will take place in Oslo from February 23 to March 6, 2011. There will be 20-22 disciplines in cross-country, Nordic combined and ski-jumping, in addition to several cultural and public festival events. All the disciplines will take place at Holmenkollen’s new national arena, which consists of the Holmenkollbakken ski jump (K 120/HS 134), the Midtstubakken ski-jump (K 95/HS 106) and the cross-country arena.

The official medal ceremonies will take place at the Universitetsplassen square in Oslo city centre.

Oslo has hosted three previous World Ski Championships: in 1930, 1966, 1982.

If you speak both Norwegian and English, it is now possible to sign up as a volunteer for both the Trial WSC and the 2011 World Championships.
