Norwegian’s Jørn Tandberg and Christian Zaborowski will reform their successful racing partnership in Doha, Qatar on 25 April.

Tandberg, the defending Class 1 European Champion, confirmed the team’s revised driver-throttleman combination for the opening race of the season, and announced that Ugland Offshore Racing’s distinctive, scarlet, Class 1-Mercury, V8-powered raceboat will run under the colors of Norwegian company, Welmax AS located in Larvik. Welmax is Norway’s largest supplier of mechanized welding production equipment, whose core business is focussed on servicing the international offshore oil business.

Tandberg and Zaborowski made their powerboat racing debut in 2004, competing in the ProVee European Championship, finishing a credible fourth and lifting the Norwegian title. They repeated the feat a year later, adding the European title. 2005 also saw a move into Class 1, with Tandberg and Zaborowski grabbing a first podium in Trondheim and a first Pole Position win in Dubai, taking their first race win in Arendal in 2006.

Last season, racing alongside Class 1 newcomer, Inge Brigt Aarbakke, Tandberg took wins in Arendal and Constanta to clinch the European Championship.
