Ingvild Snildal (20), from Asker, captured the bronze medal in the women’s 50m butterfly at the World Championships in Rome on Saturday. This was Norway’s first WC medal in swimming in 31 years.

“I am shocked. I had never expected this,” said Ingvild at the press conference after the race.

Snildal swam for Norway at the 2008 Olympics, where she set the Norwegian Record in the 100m butterfly. Her club team is Asker svømmeklubb.
