Suzann nominated for sports awards
Suzann has been nominated in Norway’s annual sports awards ceremony in the categories “personality of the year” and “female athlete of the year”. She won the female athlete of the year category in January 2008, immediately after her breakthrough season in 2007 with five LPGA Tour victories that year.
Unfortunately Suzann cannot be present on the evening of the prize ceremony 9 January as she returned from Oslo to the USA before Christmas and will remain there, based in Orlando, until her golf season starts next month.
She said, “It is a fantastic honour to be recognised by my country’s sports community in this way and I’m particularly proud that these days achievement in golf is valued as highly as more traditional “Norwegian” sports such as skiing, football and handball. There are so many great champions in Norwegian sport so I think it will be tough to win but it’s great to be acknowledged. I hope my fellow athletes have a fun time at the gala ceremony and I’m looking forward to seeing some of them soon on global TV when the Winter Olympics start in Vancouver.”
Fans in Norway can vote for Suzann in the Personality of the Year category by sending an SMS “7” to 1987. The other categories are decided by a panel of judges formed by prominent individuals from the Norwegian sporting community and includes the head of the Norwegian Olympic centre and Elite Sports Association, Jarle Aambø as well as Kjetil Andre Aamodt, the most decorated alpine skiier in history, with eight Olympic medals.
