Soccer: Lyn tries a pair of Yanks
Former New England Revolution draft pick Tyrel Lacey has signed a contract with Norwegian Premier League outfit Lyn while trialist Nick Webb is also trying to find a home with the team.
The former University of Tulsa keeper has signed with the Norwegian cellar dwellers until 2011, and is expected to immediately compete for the starting position after putting in an impressive performance in last week’s exhibition game against Liverpool.
“Tyrel played about 75 minutes of the game against Liverpool,” Lyn press officer Joachim Andersen told YA. “He played really well, made a very good impression on us and strengthened our belief that he’s a good signing for the team.”
In the midst of a horror season which sees them in last place and seven points from safety with only ten games left on the schedule, the Oslo-based club is looking to solidify the goalkeeping position which has seen several players come, go and cycle through with little sense of consistency.
