Unprecedented snowfall envelopes southern Norway

Snow chaos leads to a halt in transportation, schools and businesses stay closed Southern Norway has received more snow than the people there can handle. Several areas have received over 20 inches of snow in a few days, including Kristiansand and Arendal, but Risør stands out with total snowfall measuring over 40 inches. In Risør, the snow depth went from 7 inches on Dec. 31 to 47 inches on Jan. 3. In other words, 40 inches of snow fell in the first three days of the year.
