Six shortlisted in Oslo museum competition
Six designs have been shortlisted in the international competition to build a new National Museum of Art, Architecture & Design in Oslo, reports Bdonline.co.uk.
Statsbygg (Public Construction and Property, Norway) was earlier this year instructed by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs to initiate the planning of a new, collective building complex to house the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design on the site of the old Railway Station West, Vestbanen, in Oslo.
An international competition was announced on March 30, 2009.
It is understood that more than 230 practices entered the competition, but Oslo officials have declined to name the architects behind the shortlisted entries. The flagship building will stand on the site of the former Vestbanen railway station. The second phase will involve the drawing up of more detailed designs.
The winner will be unveiled March, 2010.
