Scandinavian Day Celebrates Three Decades of Fun

The 30th Annual Scandinavian Day Festival at Vasa Park (photo), Route 31, South Elgin, Illinois is just around the corner – on Sunday, September 13, 2009. Enjoy a late summer day with traditional food, crafts, games, gifts & entertainment celebrating the five Nordic heritage and cultures of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Bring your family and friends to beautiful 25-acre Vasa Park, located along the Fox River, on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, held rain or shine, is presented by the Scandinavian Day Festival Committee at historic Vasa Park, Route 31, South Elgin, Illinois (7 Miles South of I-90 Northwest Tollway & 5 Miles North of IL Rt. 64 North Ave.)

Come enjoy delicious Scandinavian foods, treats and baked goods. Featured Scandinavian and American entertainment includes The Nordic Folk Dancers, Sun City Concert Band, Swedish Glee Club, Leikarringen Heimhug Folk Dancers and more. Back by popular demand are the church service and free pony rides for the children. New in 2009: Take a stroll through our new Heritage Garden & Walk of Honor and and visit a special exhibit celebrating “30 Years of Scandinavian Day Memories”.

Donation: Adults: $10 per person (includes FREE Parking) – Children 12 & Under FREE. For FREE entry, please wear full traditional Scandinavian dress or costume & spend a few minutes in the park’s VIP/Culture Tent sharing the significance & history. Sorry…no pets permitted on the grounds!
