Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame inductees for 2019 announced

Minot, N.D.

Three new inductees will be welcomed into the Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame at ceremonies in Minot, N.D., on Sept. 24, 2019. The three honorees are:

Darin Erstad

Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame

The Jamestown, N.D., native was the No. 1 overall pick in the major league baseball draft in 1995. The outfielder and first baseman went on to win a world championship with the Anaheim Angels in 2002 and was named an MLB All Star two times. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum will present the award.

 

 

The Wisness Family

Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame

Five generations of a McKenzie County family that has farmed and ranched on land near Keene, N.D., first claimed by Andrew Wisness in 1903 will be honored. The award will be presented by Wisness Family historian Jean Mogen Wold.

Richard Lindstrom, MD

Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame

Holder of more than 40 patents in ophthalmology, Dr. Lindstrom is an internationally recognized leader in corneal, cataract, refractive, glaucoma, and laser surgery. Dr. Lindstrom is a highly acclaimed physician and surgeon and resides in Minnesota. Minot ophthalmologist Dr. Darrell Williams will present the award.

 

 

The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at the Grand Hotel in Minot on Tuesday, Sept. 24, with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner and ceremony at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are available online at hostfest.com, or by calling the Norsk Høstfest office at (701) 852-2368.
