Both King Harald V and Queen Sonja are part of a new series of stamps featuring royal portraits issued by the Norwegian Post Office.
“It is King Haakon, King Harald, Queen Sonja, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra whose portraits have been created by the artist Trond Bredesen,” the postal service announced.
The stamps commemorate that it has been 150 years since King Haakon was born and that the royal couple has celebrated their 85th birthdays, while Princess Alexandra came of age with her 18th birthday this year.
King Haakon VII is depicted in the general’s uniform he wore in exile in 1940, while the other three royals are depicted in sports clothing in bright colors.
The new royal stamps, which have been printed in a collection issue of 7 million, went on sale on April 22. They can be used on ordinary letters weighing between 20 and 50 grams.
