Road construction costs up 1.3 per cent
Road construction costs increased by 1.3 per cent from the first to the second quarter of 2010. Material costs rose by 2.1 per cent.
From the first quarter to the second quarter of 2010 the construction costs of concrete bridges increased the most, by 1.6 per cent. The costs of open air road and rock tunnel rose by 1.3 and 1.0 per cent respectively.
From the second quarter of 2009 to the second quarter of 2010 the construction costs of open air road increased the most, by 3.8 per cent. The costs of rock tunnel rose by 3.3 per cent, while the costs of concrete bridges increased by 2.3 per cent.
The maintenance costs of roads increased by 1.8 per cent from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2010, and are 5.1 per cent higher than in the second quarter of 2009.
