If you love a mile-high adventure thrill, then Loen, at the inner part of the Nordfjord, should be on your Norwegian travel to-do list. The Via Ferrata Loen is a spectacular and unforgettable new experience.

The term via ferrata translates from Italian “iron path” and is a term used to describe mountain climbing routes using steel cables and fixed ladders.

This new “floating ladder” of 120 steps with a 45-degree incline is a new addition to the village’s climbing route. Called the Stigulli, you climb high above the fjord, surrounded by mountains and Jostedalsbreen National Park.

Join the trained guides from Loen Active, an eco-certified activity company that provides outdoor experiences from the center of Loen all year round. Helmet and harness are included. The climb can be combined with a meal in the Hoven Restaurant or a drink at its bar—you may need it!

At the top of Mt. Hoven, there are two ziplines that fly over the Tungejølet Gorge. The ziplines are a 5- to 10-minute walk from the top station to Loen Skylift. You can finish with a spectacular zipline or return to fjord level with the Loen Skylift.

The cable car takes you from the fjord edge to the mountain top in five minutes and returns you in the same amount of time. Put your courage to the test in the beautiful fjord landscape. Only in Norway!
