Petter Northug hires Papa

John Northug (52) is manager and handyman full-time for his son Petter Northug as of 1 june, writes VG.

Papa John Northug has been the honorary manager of his son since the breakthrough in 2006. Soon he will take a year leave from his job at the agriculture department in Mosvik.

“He has been very generous. I get the municipal salary and a couple of ski boots,” said John Northug to VG.

Julusmoen on the sidelines

All inquiries shall now go through my dad said Northug. This means that Terje Julusmoen is on the sidelines. On hard training days John Northug also be the cook. He will also be a training facilitator and dirty tests.

“I may also show up more at the World Cup,” said Papa Northug.

Petter Northug is only 24 years old, but already has two Olympic gold medals and four world championship gold. During the Winter Games in Vancouver earlier this year, he won the 50 km classic and the team sprint.

This season, he won also cross country World Cup standings.
