A new Norwegian-designed system could help the world’s estimated 61 million golfers improve their golf swing.

Initial Force AS, that previously developed The Ski Jump Analyzer; a feedback system for ski jumping, will launch their new golf training tool; The Swing Catalyst at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando Florida on January 29, 2009. The Swing Catalyst is a biomechanical feedback system with two main components; a tailor made force plate for golf and a video analysis software.

Golfers wanting to improve their skills often use video filming to study their balance and correct their movements. But there is more to an optimal stroke than just balance. With this in mind Norway’s Initial Force has developed their new system.

Initial Force AS is located in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) Innovation Centre at Gløshaugen in Trondheim and co-operates closely with the university’s programme in Human Movement Sciences.

Steinar Bråten, former trainer for Norway’s national ski jumping team is one of the co-owner of the innovative company. He is also a consultant for Olympiatoppen, an organisation that is part of Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports with responsibility for training Norwegian elite sport.
