Norwegians are the third richest in the world

Norwegians are the third richest in the world, according to a new report from the Swiss bank Credit Suisse. In first place are the Swiss themselves.

Adult Norwegians had in 2011 an average net worth of $355,925, equivalent to NOK 2 million, an increase of 17.6 percent compared with last year, according to Credit Suisse’s ‘Global Wealth Report 2011.’ Real estate and personal property are included in the sum in addition to financial capital.

The Swiss have an average net worth of $540,010, equivalent to NOK 3 million, while the Australians are in second place with an average net worth of $396,745, equivalent to NOK 2.2 million.

Household wealth increased by 14 percent in the first half of this year worldwide. Growth is strongest in Asia.

An estimated 84,700 people have a fortune of more than 50 million dollars, equivalent to NOK 280 million, according to Credit Suisse. The global average is however lower than NOK 300,000.

USA is the country in the world with the largest share of household wealth.
