10th Annual Norwegian-American Seminar: Cultural Inventions, Transplantations and Transnationalisms in Norwegian America
The Norwegian-American Historical Association (NAHA-Norway) invites you to attend the tenth Norwegian-American seminar to be held at the Norwegian Emigrant Museum and Research Center, Ottestad, Norway, June 26-28, 2009.
The seminar will offer a wide range of topics dealing with migration and cultural inventions and transplantations among Norwegian immigrants and their descendants.

REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION FEES: Click here to download form, please fill out and return it to NAHA-Norway Membership Secretary Harry Cleven, Nordmanns-Forbundet, Rådhusgt. 23 B 0158 Oslo or via email to: hcleven@norseman.no by June 1, 2009. The registration fee is kr. 800,- (Students and seniors kr. 600,-), to be paid in cash upon arrival at the seminar. The seminar opens on Friday, June 26 at 10:00 am at the entrance and garden of the Norwegian Emigrant Museum. There will be a buffet lunch at 12:30 am in the meeting room and garden at the museum. The seminar closes after lunch on June 28. The fee for the conference banquet on Saturday evening is kr. 400. Binding registration must be made to admin@emigrantmuseum.no by June 1, since the banquet must be ordered in advance.
HOUSING: NAHA-Norway has reserved rooms for the nights of June 25 until June 28 at four hotels in and around Hamar. Our main housing will be at Staur Gjestegård, Vestbygdveien 226, 2312 Ottestad in Stange, Hedmark. Conference price is Nkr. 600,- per person per night. To get this price, you must provide a binding registration as soon as possible with the Norwegian Emigrant Museum via email to admin@emigrantmuseum.no. Final deadline May 1. The Staur is approximately 5 km. from the museum. Bus service to and from the conference site will be provided for those who do not drive their own car.
Rooms for the same dates at three other locations have also been reserved. TRAVEL:
By air: To Oslo Airport Gardemoen. Go downstairs in the aiport terminal and take a train bound for Hamar, Lillehammer or Trondheim. Take the train to Hamar (approx. 1 hour) and a taxi to the Norwegian Emigrant Museum in Åkershagan (approx. 5 minutes).
By train: Please consult www.nsb.no for relevant train schedules to Hamar. Take a taxi from the train station to the Norwegian Emigrant Museum in Åkershagan (approx. 5 minutes).
By private car: Take the E6 motorway to the Ottestad interchange, approx. 12 km north of Stange and 1 km. south of Riksveg 25. There are signs on E6 to the museum. Follow the signs to our parking lot, approx. 2 minutes from the motorway.
MEALS: Breakfasts will be at the hotel. All coffee breaks and lunches will be at the museum. Dinner on Friday evening will be each individual’s own responsibility, but the museum will provide a list of restaurants in Hamar. There will be bus service from the city center for those staying at Staur. The Conference banquet will be held on Saturday evening. Bus service from the banquet site to the hotels will be provided.
