Norwegian Opposition To Joining EU At 54.9% – Poll

Nearly 55% of Norwegians remain opposed to joining the European Union, a poll carried out by Sentio for Norwegian newspapers Klassekampen and Nationen showed Monday.

Of the survey’s respondents, 54.9% were against E.U. membership, 33% were in favor and 12% remained undecided, the Sentio report said.

Leader of the lobby group “No to the E.U.” Heming Olaussen noted that neither the financial crisis nor Iceland’s alleged interest in E.U. membership seemed to have moved voters towards the yes side, for the fourth year in a row, local media reported.
