Norwegian military will join fight against piracy

Norway will contribute an Orion surveillance aircraft to the NATO-led fight against maritime piracy in October.
The Norwegian government has decided to send an Orion military surveillance aircraft to assist the NATO-led international fight against piracy in the Bay of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
Defense Minister Grete Faremo says the plane will participate in the Ocean Shield mission for a three-month period in 2011, from Oct. 1 to the end of December.
Norway will also contribute two staff officers to the NATO Shipping Center, which leads the fight against maritime piracy, for a period of up to eight months.
