Norwegian contractor secures Hong Kong contract

LNS is also the primary contractor for the Boullanjåkka project, which will increase the energy production of Kvænangen hydro power plant by almost ten percent. Work on the tunnel commenced in August 2007 and will be completed in the fall of 2009.
Leonhard Nilsen & Sønner AS (LNS) has secured a contract worth NOK 2.1 billion to build sewage tunnels on the Hong Kong island, in a joint venture with Leighton Asia (Leighton).
The contract is with Hong Kong Drainage Service Departement (DSD), and covers the building of a main sewage feed tunnel from Aberdeen to Sai Ying Pun on Hong Kong Island.
The project is part of the Hong Kong Government’s Harbor Area Treatment Scheme (HATS).
When the project is completed, the Hong Kong Harbor basin will appear far less polluted than at present.
The LNS group consists of a total of 15 companies, all owned by Leonhard Nilsen & Sønner Eiendom AS. The companies’ activities range from road and tunnel construction to concrete production and mining operation.
The head office of Leonhard Nilsen & Sønner AS is located in Vesterålen in North Norway, approximately 300 km north of the Polar Circle.
