Norwegian BBC journalist appointed to mission to UN

Emma Kwesiga Lydersen has been appointed as Communications Adviser at Norway’s permanent mission to the UN in New York.

Emma Kwesiga Lydersen (36) has worked for the last 11 years as a journalist and producer for the BBC.

From a base in New York, she will now present and promote Norway’s activities in the UN vis-à-vis Norwegian and international media.

There were over 100 applicants for the job, which will entail network-building with the Norwegian and international press and promoting issues of importance to Norway.

Ms Lydersen has long international experience, including work in London, Boston, New York, Toronto, Lusaka, Gaborone, Abuja, Oslo and Grimstad, the small town south of the Norwegian capital where she grew up. She has studied journalism, media law, African history, history of religion and sociology. She has two children.

The position of Communications Adviser at the mission has recently been established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is a three-year position, which may be extended.
