Norwegian Air receives U.S. loan for aircraft
OSLO, Aug 3 (Reuters) – Budget airline Norwegian Air Shuttle said on Monday it had received financing for seven Boeing 737-800 aircraft from U.S lender Export-Import Bank and secured a commitment to support the purchase of up to 20 more planes.
The seven aircrafts are scheduled for delivery between summer 2009 and winter 2010, while the remaining planes are expected to be delivered between 2011 and 2012, it said.
Norwegian, which competes with Scandinavian leader SAS, ordered the 42 new Boeing (BA – news – people ) 737-800 aircraft in 2007.
Norwegian, Scandinavia’s second-biggest airline, will receive 58 new 737-800s between 2009 and 2014.
