Norway's Northug flops in 15K; coach blames skis

British Columbia — The bounce-back Olympics for Norway got off to a bad start when cross-country superstar Petter Northug quickly realized no amount of strength, speed or stamina could make up for his substandard skis.
So, the 24-year-old World Cup leader who is the best Norwegian skier since the great Bjoern Daehlie cruised around the cross-country track at Whistler Olympic Park Monday, conceding the 15-kilometer men’s race to Switzerland’s Dario Cologna.
