Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit got to experience the extreme Norwegian west-coast weather (“vestlandsvær”) when they visited the “exotic” island Utsira on Sept. 1.
The royal couple are currently on a three-day county visit to Rogaland, on board the Royal Yacht Norge.
From Utsira, the couple traveled on to mainland destinations in Rogaland, including Gjesdal, Gloppedalsura and Egersund.
During the trip they also visited the UN Park; a memorial over soldiers from Rogaland that have fallen while serving the UN. The memorial is located in the municipality of Bjerkreim.
With its deep fjords, rugged mountains, clear lakes, lush farmland and small islands Rogaland is often called Norway in miniature.
