Norway's Bjørgen takes sprint gold

Norway’s Marit Bjørgen won the Olympic Games women’s sprint classic on Wednesday as World Cup leader Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland took silver.

Slovenia’s Petra Madjic, who was suffering from a painful rib injury, claimed bronze. Bjørgen was first home in a time of three mins 39.2sec with Kowalczyk second at 1.1sec behind and Majdic, who raced through all four rounds on Wednesday with a rib injury, claiming third at 1.8sec.
