Norway’s 500 largest companies
The first half of 2008 was part of the longest periods of growth Norway has experienced since the war. The second half, however, was marked by international, economic downturn and recession.
The list of Norway’s 500 largest companies shows that the country still is a strong industrial oil nation. Many entries are from the oil and gas sector, and Fortune 500s first entry is Exxon Mobil and the 5th on the list below.
StatoilHydro is once again alone in the lead with a 656 billion NOK turnover. 450 billion of which is generated by export.
Several other sectors are represented further down on the list; energy, banking, insurance and groceries are all ranked amongst the top 20 companies:
