Norway wins World Cup ski jumping team event in Slovenia

PLANICA, Slovenia — Norway won the final World Cup ski jump team event of the season Saturday, and Austria finished fourth to miss out on a podium place for the first time in five years.

Tom Hilde, Johan Remen Evensen, Anders Jacobsen and Anders Bardal amassed 793.4 points for Norway on the 215-meter Letalnica, the world’s largest sky flying hill.

Poland took second with 761.9 points for its best World Cup result and Russia came third with 734.6.

Austria finished 77.8 points behind Norway for its poorest result since finishing fifth in 2004 in Lahti, Finland.

Strong wind forced organizers to interrupt the competition several times and finally shorten it to just one round of jumping when conditions worsened toward the end of the event.

The World Cup season ends Sunday with an individual competition.
