Norway to lead UN work on financial crisis

Norway’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Morten Wetland, will lead a working group to follow up on the UN Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and Its Impact on Development.

Ambassador Wetland (photo) was appointed by the President of the UN’s General Assembly, Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, and will chair the group jointly with Zambia’s UN ambassador, Lazarous Kapambwe.

The group will address issues identified in the Outcome of the Conference. It will present a progress report by September 2010, when the 64th General Assembly concludes.
