Norway proposes Russian companies use its gas transportation system
According to the Russian Energy Ministry, Norway has proposed that Russian companies use its gas transportation system.
The meeting covered cooperation in energy conservation, renewable energy, hydrocarbon extraction on the continental shelf and the impact of the global financial crisis on the fuel and energy sector.
They said that Russia is actively participating in development of the gas market in Europe and strengthening mutual trust between the leading gas producing companies, including Norwegian companies. Russia is supporting the development of a competitive market and intends to coordinate actions jointly with its foreign counterparts in order to ensure stability on gas markets. Russian and Norway are conducting regular consultations and coordinating their activities to ensure effective cooperation concerning liberalization of the natural gas market in Europe.
Mr Liv Monika Stubholt deputy minister of petroleum and energy of Norway said that Norway does not view Russia as a competitor on the gas market and invited Russian companies to use its gas transportation system.
