Norway Opposition Vows Sale of Statoil Shares, State Assets
Aug. 20 (Bloomberg) — Norway’s Progress Party vowed to reduce or eliminate state ownership in 13 companies including StatoilHydro ASA to raise money for infrastructure investments and tax cuts after next month’s election.
The group will reduce ownership in StatoilHydro, Norsk Hydro ASA and Telenor ASA to 34 percent, cut the 14 percent stake in airline SAS AB and sell shares in utility Statkraft AS to the public, according party finance spokesman Ulf Leirstein.

At present, the Progress Party has approximately 25000 registered members, of which 2500 are elected officials. Membership is steadily increasing and has more than doubled over the past ten years.
