Norway’s oil production fell to a preliminary 2.15 million barrels per day on average in March from nearly 2.17 million in February, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said on Thursday.

Production of natural gas liquids (NGL) and condensate fell to a preliminary 348,000 barrels per day in March from 399,000 in February, the directorate said in a statement.

Gas production fell to a preliminary 9.7 billion standard cubic metres in March from 9.8 billion in February, the NPD said.

Non-OPEC producer Norway is the world’s fourth biggest oil exporter and western Europe’s biggest gas exporter.

Oil companies on the Norwegian continental shelf are struggling to maintain production against a long-term declining trend at maturing North Sea oilfields, but Norway’s gas production continues to grow.
