Twins Marcus & Martinus from Trofors in Norway are the winners of the Swedish song contest Melodifestivalen and will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in May.

Marcus & Martinus won the Swedish song contest Melodifestivalen 2024 with the song “Unforgettable.” The Norwegian twin duo will represent Sweden on home turf in the Eurovision Song Contest finale in May.

“I am so happy, thank you so much, Sweden, for voting!” said Martinus when victory was a fact.

The twins won overwhelmingly with a large margin in Stockholm on March 9. They got 177 points, while second place took 104.

The young men from Trofors in Nordland will be waving blue and yellow flags when the Eurovision Song Contest gets underway in Malmö in May.

It is the first time that an all-Norwegian group has won Melodifestivalen in Sweden.

The twins were favorites to win, and they received the most points in the popular vote and by the non-Swedish jury.

After the jury had cast their votes, the twins led by 39 points over second place. They got a whopping six out of eight 12-pointers, the top score. The duo received a total of 92 points from the Swedish people.

“Sweden has a very special place in our hearts,” said a tearful Martinus after the winning performance.

Second place went to another duo, Medina, with the song “Que Sera.”

In third place came the rock band Smash Into Pieces with the song “Heroes are calling.” They got 90 points.

Støre sends his congratulations

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor Party) congratulated Marcus & Martinus on their victory in Melodifestivalen.

“A great achievement on an unforgettable evening!” wrote Støre about the twin duo with reference to the title of the winning song “Unforgettable.”

“How much fun it will be for us in Norway to follow Gåte and M&M in Malmö in May!” Støre posted on social media.
