Nordisk Film and Storm in new strong alliance

Nordisk Film has post produced big movies such as the "Millennium Trilogy" (left). Storm Studio are well known for their excellent work, e.g. for the post work on "Peter and the Wolf". Storm's latest feature films are Max Manus and Dead Snow.

Nordisk Film Post Production AS and Storm Studios AS have just made an agreement to establish a new joint venture covering all aspects within digital post production. With the new company the two partners take up a strong position in the increased competition, which is a result of the digital development in the Norwegian market.

Nordisk Film is operating within post production in Norway, Denmark and Sweden and has a leading position in the area. The company has post produced big movies such as the Millennium TrilogyArn – The Knight Templar and the Kautokeino Rebellion (Kautokeino-opprøret).

Until now the activities have included analogue as well as digital post production on movies, commercials and television. The digital development with the introduction of digital film operation has led to a new market situation with new technology and new competition.

On this background Nordisk Film Post Production has looked for a suitable partner in Norway to be able to meet the future in the best possible way. Nordisk Film will close down its Norwegian laboratory handling analogue production in this connection

Ulrik Rasch, Managing Director of Nordisk Film Post Production says: ”It is a natural and necessary step we are taking now. The future is digital, and with Storm Studios we have found the most competent partner to create a strong alliance to meet this future. Together we have the very best possibilities of delivering the entire value chain within post production in Norway and thus maintain the strong position that each of us previously held”.

Lars Hellebust, Chairman of the Board, Storm Studios, adds: ”For the time being the market tendency in our business is consolidation. We need to gather absolutely the strongest competencies. With our new joint venture we have all the possibilities of being a successful post production house. It is therefore with great and positive expectations that we now go into this partnership with Nordisk Film.”

The new company, with the name Nordisk Film Shortcut, will be located at Grünerløkke, the present address of Storm Studios. The employees of Nordisk Film Post Production will move from their present facilities in Nydalen to Grünerløkke when the new company starts operations. This is expected to take place around the beginning of the new year.

Nordisk Film will acquire the majority of the shares in the new company and has the deciding share in the board of directors.
