New Scandinavian online store Nordic Wonders welcomed the public to its official launch party held at Olsons Scandinavian Deli in Los Angeles, Calif., on June 3, 2017.
Attendees chatted and enjoyed the ambiance of the deli as they looked over unique items that are listed on Nordic Wonders’ online store. The items included puzzles, plate mats, coloring books, and postcards displaying beautiful Swedish artwork by famous artists such as Elsa Beskow and John Bauer. The popular Swedish character Pippi Longstocking was also displayed.
Delicious Scandinavian-themed food made by Olsons Scandinavian Deli was available for guests to enjoy while they mingled. There were open-face meatball sandwiches as well as open-face salmon sandwiches. One guest claimed the salmon sandwiches were the best in Los Angeles.
Nordic Wonders has close connections to Scandinavia and Scandinavian-American groups. Store founder Lauren Ell is located in Sweden most of the year, where she enjoys the beauty of Lapland scenery and culture. She also travels to Norway and Finland for occasional road trips. She was born and raised near Palm Springs, Calif.
“I am very excited to bring Scandinavian items to the U.S. for everyone to enjoy for themselves, their family, and their friends,” Ell said of Nordic Wonders. “I have always loved the high regard Scandinavian countries hold for nature. That is why I decided to share Scandinavian items with Americans.”
Her mother, Linda, has been an active member of Swedish American organization Vasa Order of America for over 20 years and is also associated with Sons of Norway. Her involvement in Scandinavian-American groups has been a large influence on Ell’s interest in Scandinavia.
The online store will be adding new items on a regular basis. Customers are encouraged to follow Nordic Wonders on social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date about new additions. There is also an email subscription option where customers can register for email updates.
