We are an educational organization that responsibly collects, preserves, promotes and communicates the history, culture and heritage of the Westby, WI area for current and future generations. Westby was an immigration destination for a huge number of Norwegians starting in 1848 through the early 1900s. We have a museum that is filled with artifacts and information about the Norwegian people who settled in this area; the history of the local, internationally known Snowflake Ski Club ski jumping events and our Syttende Mai celebration; a Westby Times newspaper collection from 1917; and a huge amount of genealogy resources including local church records, microfilms, and census records. We open the museum for tours for anyone including bus groups and school groups; and we provide help with genealogy questions.
