Lakselaget launches Nordic News Calendar
Lakselaget announced on March 9 the launch of the Nordic News Calendar for the Upper Midwest, which includes Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin. “The hearts of Scandinavians beat loud and clear in the Upper Midwest,” says calendar co-creator Leslee Lane Hoyum.
“For years, Nordic Midwesterners have talked about the need for an all-inclusive calendar to find Nordic events, and help organizations plan and promote their own,” said Hoyum. “Lakselaget now provides that tool.”
Through the technical talent of Jeannette Henrikssen, a Lakselag member, and her husband, Tom Myers, the calendar is easy to use. Simply go to www.lakselaget.org and click on Nordic News Calendar or go directly to www.lakselaget.org/pages/nordicnews.
You can search for events by Nordic country, dates or type. By clicking on the event, you will read the details necessary to participate. Listing an event is just as easy. Click on Add New Event and fill in the blanks. When finished, click on Save Event. If you missed completing required information, the calendar will tell you what is missing.
According to Hoyum, the calendar is geared for the Upper Midwest, but gladly accepts Norwegian events throughout the country.
Lakselaget is for professional women and college and university students who are also Norwegian, of Norwegian descent, or are interested in contemporary Norwegian issues and all things Norwegian. The organization offers scholarships to Norwegian students who wish to study in Minnesota or the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks or Minnesotans desiring to study in Norway.
