In cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bergen International Festival is putting on a star-studded concert in Grieghallen on May 27th. Political leaders from all over the world are invited, and tickets are already made available to the public.
The Norwegian Government has invited politicians and climate experts to a high-level conference in Bergen on May 27th and 28th. Subjects for discussion are the capturing and storing of CO 2 as tools in combating the current climate crisis. Accompanying the conference, a Nordic gala concert is arranged in cooperation the Bergen International Festival.
“Bergen International Festival provides an excellent opportunity for demonstrating some of the best performers the Nordic art field has to offer.” says Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre.
A wide range of experiences from nature
The theme of the concert is nature, and festival director Per Boye Hansen promises wide-ranging artistic experiences inspired by nature. This year´s festival programme contains many great names, and in this concert we´ve gathered many of them in one place. As a festival with an international impact, it is important to be able to contribute in this arena. This year it was especially pertinent, as we have been focusing on the relations between arts and politics, says Per Boye Hansen. From ice to drizzle
Swedish soprano Katarina Karnéus will be performing Grieg with Leif Ove Andsnes, and the folk dancer Hallgrim Hansegård will be doing acrobatic capers accompanied by Lasse Thoresen´s Yr, played by Ragnhild Hemsing. Hansegård is probably currently best known for his stunts in the Eurovision Song Contest along with Alexander Rybak. The concert opens with the magical iceplay of Terje Isungset, who will be spending his Easter holiday in Geilo searching for the perfect ice. The programme also contains one of Finland´s largest male choirs and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra led by Andrew Manze.
