Nordic Council Literature Prize to Oksanen

It was one of the big favorites, Finnish Sofi Oksanen (32), which is the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2010 for her novel “Utrenskning” (Purge).

Oksanen was born in 1977 and grew up in Jyväskylä in Finland.

Purge is Sofi Oksanen third novel. According to the jury she shows her full strength:

With its rich and expressive language, she weaves actual historical events – the Soviet occupation of Estonia – along with fierce current and global contemporary themes; trafficking in the Baltic Sea area.
